Meet Thomas Stark, M.D.

Proud to be a fourth generation Texan, Thomas W. Stark, M.D. went to high school in the west part of Corpus Christi, surrounded by cotton fields and oil refineries. He went to the University of Texas at Austin as a National Merit Scholar and graduated in three years with a B.A. in Biology. (Yes he is a Longhorn). He then attended medical school in San Antonio, graduating with honors.

Dr. Stark then left Texas as a Medical Officer in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C., where he trained first one year as an intern in Surgery, then spent four more years there as Residency training in Otolaryngology. He then served in the Navy in his specialty in Okinawa, Japan then Long Beach, California.

Dr. Stark became Board Certified by The American Board of Otolaryngology in 1983. He undertook additional Fellowship training and examination and achieved the status of Fellow in The American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy in 1989. This national group is comprised of ENT specialists who deal with the complexities of allergy and immunology.

He moved to The Woodlands in 1988 and has been practicing in Montgomery County steadily since then. He was affiliated with Sadler Clinic through 2012, and established his own solo private practice in his current location in July of 2012.

He embraces cutting edge technology, and has extensive experience with modern nasal and sinus surgeries, including the use of sinus dilation balloons and micro-fiber lasers.

His office is equipped for diagnosing allergies with a variety of test techniques. Dr. Stark does still believe that properly performed skin testing is the most accurate of the ways to diagnose allergy. (It can be performed in a painless manner). He offers conventional “shot”: immunotherapy as well as allergy drops form of allergy therapy. Sublingual immunotherapy or allergy drop treatment differs from the usual allergy shots regimen in that the drops are placed underneath the tongue. This form of treatment slowly desensitizes you from your hypersensitivity to pollens, dander, mold, dust mites and other allergy triggers.

As a former SCUBA dive instructor and Navy veteran, Dr. Stark has a special interest in the ventilation system that allows us to equalize pressure and “clear our ears” usually called the Eustachian tube. He has traveled both to Boston and San Francisco to learn a novel technique for fixing obstruction in the area with sinus balloon type instruments.

Dr. Stark treats children of all ages, including various pediatric ENT services.
